| ACCOMPLISHMENTS In its vibrant history the Improvement League successfully administered an after school tutorial program for seven years, serving more than 115 at risk children per year, only relocating when Hillsborough County needed the site for a alternative school. This program offered free basic tutoring, affordable advanced academic studies, mentoring for girls aged 12 to 18 (Young Ladies of the Millennium), arts & craft, college scholarships, and an annual youth conference. Some of these services continue along with computer skills training for senior citizens at the Historic Glover School site until completion of the Bing Rooming House Museum. During 2004, 2005 and 2006, the Improvement league successfully conducted full day summer programs at Faith Temple P. B. Church, Mount Moriah M. B. Church, and Historic Glover School with over 40 students enrolled at each site, and provided start up financing, fundraising and administrative support for “Plant City Eagles Football & Cheerleading Program.” The Improvement League is also the fiscal agent for the Community Networking and Youth Advocacy (C.N.Y.A.C.), a group of five community organizations operating under a Public-Private Partnership to promote literacy throughout Hillsborough County. |
